Matthew is currently Director of Strategic Health Consultancy at a major FTSE 100 consultancy based on the UK. The views in this blog are his own and not the view of his company.
Matthew graduated from Oxford University with degrees in Physiological Sciences and Medicine, pursing a surgical training pathway, incorporating significant surgical oncology that resulted in him gaining further qualifications including Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, and subsequently Law. He has a thorough understanding of the workings of the NHS and international health systems, in particular the acute hospital setting, having worked as a surgical doctor in both large teaching and district general hospitals.
Matthew has an extensive knowledge of health policy, professional body recommendations and novel international models of service provision. His particular interests are policy change implications for service delivery (models of care and service redesign/transformation) and service redesign/transformation, cost-benefit and value for money analysis (including NHS business cases), clinical risk minimisation/medico-legal issues, and clinical design specifications (including design due diligence reviews and value engineering).
